In our last 2 articles we talked about giving charitable and experiential gifts.  We love those ideas and think they should top everyone’s gift giving list, but we also are realistic and know that there will be “stuff” to be given, too.  We all like getting something special under the tree, but how much better would we feel if we about giving that special gift if we knew that we had purchased it from a company that cares?  A company that has pledged to give back to people and causes that make a difference.  The list of companies that do just that is actually quite larger than you might think!  Do a search on “Companies that give back” and you will be delighted to see the amazing number of companies doing their part to make the world a better place!  Here are a few of our favourites:

10 Tree – The plant 10 tree’s every time you make a purchase!

Roots – Roots has an unbelievably long list of non-profits they give to, you can check out that list here.

Aldo – One of the first Canadian companies to support AIDS research, Aldo also donates to War Child, which supports children affected by war, the Canadian Cancer Society and many other charities.

Canada Goose – A portion of  every item from their PBI collection goes to support the conservation of polar bear habitats.

Toms – What started as a buy a pair/we’ll give a pair charity, has turned into so much more.  Learn more here.

Better World Books – Buy a book from BWB and they will donate a book to Books for Africa.  And BONUS – FREE SHIPPING!

Patagonia – We can’t even.  Did you see what they did on Black Friday?  ICYMI, Patagonia donated 100% of their Black Friday sales to their charitable partners.  They were expecting 2 million in sales…the did 10.  10 million dollars to charity in 1 day.  Every other day of the year they are members of 1% for the Planet, which translates into them donating 1% of their annual sales to grassroots environmental causes.
