Northern Co-Hort presents the Northern Greenhouse Production Series, a set of workshops to take you through a season of greenhouse production in the Peace Region. These sessions are designed to support current and aspiring producers; whether you are curious about starting greenhouse production or want to streamline your operation, the Northern Greenhouse Production Series will provide you with tools for success. Cait Vince of the Rustic Market Garden will be facilitating this three-part series, sharing from the wealth of experience she has gained through many seasons of northern greenhouse growing.

March 20, 2021, 2:00 – 3:30 pm: Northern Greenhouse Design
To kick things off, this online workshop will explore greenhouse designs that work in the north, options for heating your greenhouse and tips for sourcing cost-effective materials. Cait will also cover what you should consider when creating beds for greenhouse planting, including soil sources and amendments. This session will give you tools that you can put in place this season!
March 21, 2021, 2:00 – 3:30 pm: Northern Greenhouse Growing 101
Whatever it might look like outside, mid-March is the time to start planting seeds! In this second online session we will talk about seed varieties and seed sourcing. This workshop will also explore natural fertilizer options to keep your plants happy as they grow from seedlings. Watch and learn as Cait demonstrates seed starting at the Rustic Market Garden!
July 11, 2021, 2:00 – 4:00 pm: On-Site Tour of The Rustic Market Garden Greenhouses
To wrap up this series, we invite you to join us for a greenhouse tour at the Rustic Market Garden! During the tour Cait will cover a wide range of information to support your greenhouse growing. Topics include companion planting, pruning, fertilizing, disease and pest control, maintaining a greenhouse climate, as well as harvesting and marketing your produce. This will be an opportunity to see what can be achieved using the strategies covered in the first two sessions, and to enjoy the beauty of the Rustic Market Garden! COVID protocols will be in place for this in-person event.
