THE NORTHERN YOUTH CLIMATE SUMMIT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 20/21 2021.

The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) will be hosting the Northern Youth Climate Summit (NYCS), a virtual conference that will highlight the causes, consequences and solutions of our climate in crisis.

What is the Northern Youth Climate Summit?

NYCS is an engaging, free, virtual 2-day summit with a goal of helping students create a 3 – 5 item Climate Action Plan (CAP) for their school community. Our hope is that students will develop a creative, thoughtful CAP that administrators will appreciate and support.

We view NYCS as an opportunity to empower students and help them gain leadership skills and the confidence to stand in front of administrators and peers and be leaders for climate action in their school or community.

Who can participate in the Northern Youth Climate Summit?

High schools from all over northern British Columbia, northern Alberta, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut are invited to gather together a class or a group of leadership students who will create a climate action plan for their school or community.

How will the Northern Youth Climate Summit work?

NYCS will run over two days, October 20 & 21, 2021, with participants joining online.

Each day will begin with a fabulous keynote address followed by breakout sessions.  The afternoons of NYCS is all about hands-on climate action planning.  Students will learn about putting together a Climate Action Plan (CAP) and be able to network with students from other schools to share ideas while creating a CAP for their own school/community.
