Here at NEAT, we’ve welcomed the New Year with excitement and big plans for the future. As you may know, we completed twenty years of work as the voice of pRRRdy at the end of 2017 and like many empty nesters are evaluating what’s next for us as an organization.

What can you expect from us over the next year? We are still committed to doing school programming. January’s theme was Climate Change and sessions booked up fast. If you haven’t read the Educators Newsletter yet, check it out. We’ve got some website updates on the horizon including a special section for our local educators so be sure to check back over the next little bit to see what’s developing!

We premiered two brand new programs in January, WineCraft and NaturePlay. We are really excited about WineCraft, a monthly evening out for crafting with friends. Don’t worry about being a crafty person or not, WineCraft is all about meeting some cool people and getting in touch with your creative side. February’s session is all about Mason Jars and is going to be fantastic fun. Registration is required and includes wine and all of your supplies. NaturePlay is the newest drop in for the 0-6 crowd and their caregivers. We are bringing the magic and wonder of nature inside through crafts, toys, games, and special guests The Worms. The free event is hosted every other Monday from 9:30-10:30. Because we are awesome, but not perfect, the next NaturePlay is Family Day, Monday February 12. We will be here with a host of nature activities and look forward to seeing you as well.

be*Leafer is our brand new monthly donation program to help support our core education and community outreach programs (and some of those pesky bills like rent and heat). It’s amazing how fast $10 or $20 a month adds up helping us to meet our commitments to support community sustainability. As always, all donations will receive a tax receipt at the end of the year. If you believe NEAT is working to inspire positive change within our community, sign up now to be a Be*Leafer!

Soup Stock will be back at High on Ice on Saturday February 10th from 11- 3 while supplies last! BYO-Mug and sample the best soups in town for $2 per serving. Forget your mug? $20 will get you a Soup Stock mug and 5 sample servings. Be sure to stop by early, we sold out quickly last year.

The Earth Hour Run is back on March 24th and better than ever! We’ve redesigned our route and added a Kids Fun 1km Run. We are counting on the Earth Hour Run to be a major fundraiser for this year and would like to see 200 runners out for the first event of 2018! Urban Systems Foundation,   Canfor  and Repetition Fitness are excited to be sponsoring this year and we’ve got a few sponsorship spaces still available. Registration will be available shortly so make sure you’re following us on Facebook!

NEAT Finds had a great holiday season and is looking all spiffy after a new coat of paint. If you haven’t dropped in recently, I encourage you to pop by. We think you’ll really like the changes.
