What is the Northern Co-Hort?
The Northern Co-Hort is a new program under the NEAT umbrella that focuses on local agricultural producers. Our goal for our first year is to hone our listening skills and learn from as many local producers as we can reach, what you’re producing, what your farming experiences have been like, and what your main challenges and big successes are. We’ll then use this information to strengthen local support services and create our own to fill the remaining gaps.
Is there a cost to this event?
No, the Farmer Meet & Greet’s are free events. There will be light refreshments served.
Can I bring my family?
Definitely. The Northern Co-Hort understands that farming is a family affair and at the Meet & Greets children and families are welcome.
Are there going to be more of these sessions?
Yes. The Northern Co-Hort is going to be hosting a variety of sessions in communities throughout the northeast. These are the first three before we break for the holidays. Keep an eye out for future meet & greets and other events in the New Year.
What is NEAT?
NEAT is the Northern Environmental Action Team, a local non-profit organization that has been working in the Peace Region for almost 30 years. Over the past five years we have been working increasingly to promote access to local food. We work to inspire healthy, vibrant and connected communities and hope we can support local farming communities to improve food security for everyone.
