Bulk Barn recently announced their pilot project and roll out of Project Waste Free. The plan is that people are able to bring their own containers to fill at the store. This got us thinking about our local bulk stopping options, so we made some phone calls. We have good news for you, just in time for holiday baking and gift making.
If you shop at Homesteaders Health Foods in Fort St. John or Health Food Centre in Dawson Creek, you are able to bring in your own containers for bulk items. The days of having to using the thin, plastic bags have come to an end.
The way this works is simple. You just need to take your container with you to the store and have it weighed before you fill it with what you need. The store will record the weight of your container and deduct it from your final weight so that you aren't paying for your jar. Simple, right?
If you make jars of soup mix, or hot chocolate mixes for teachers, this is a great way to start the season a bit greener.
