Are you self-motivated? Can you take an idea and make it happen? Did you ever think that you could really make a difference, but you weren't sure how to start? You could be the perfect addition to our team.
The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT ) will hire Eco-Advisors to join the NEAT Team in Fort St. John, and Chetwynd. These positions are part-time but the hours may increase in time! Both positions should anticipate starting mid-October.
I love all of the fresh vegetables we are able to get out of the garden right now. Walking out to the garden and picking dinner right off of the plant just makes it taste better. How can you make that last? Summer is short. Do you wish we were able to enjoy that garden fresh taste all year? There may be a way.
Is there a better way? That is for you to decide. FRESH is a movie that will make you think about the food you eat and where it comes from. Do you know where your food comes from? How do the things that are sprayed on our food really effect our lives and our health? Are there better options? We could have those options available to us right now and we hadn't even thought about it.
This has been in the planning stages and has taken several forms over the last few years, but we have finally figured it all out and it is available to everyone.
It has been a busy month at NEAT and we have had to say goodbye and eternal thanks to two of our leaders. Though Sally Emory and Andy Larstone have both decided to pass the NEAT torch onto the next set of environmental leaders, they will still be a valuable part of NEAT. Sally will stay on in an advirory role and Andy will carry on as Past President. Jarrod Bell is taking over as President of NEAT and Sheri Dressler will be moving into the Vice President chair.
There has been quite a bit of conversation lately about the little flowers we seem to all be raising these days. They seem to have taken over and there is great debate about the best way to get rid of them. Many natural methods work and they don't involve signing for a chemical at the garden store. We have all heard about the best tools for pulling them. Some have even heard about our natural recipe of vinegar, salt, and a little bit of dish soap. We have even found a fungus that you sprinkle on the weed and it kills it.
Saturday was a really good time. If you missed it, we just want to share a slideshow created by Russell Eggleston with Northern Groove and Image Build. You should go check Russell's creation. Thanks Russ! It looks great.
